I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus from posting on my blog, but will catch up posting of my latest oil paintings I’ve completed since the last post.
“Peaceful Pond” – 24×24.
“Happiness consists not of having, but of being. It is a warm glow of the heart at peace with itself.” ~ David O. McKay
Here is my recent oil painting, a 24×24 named “Carol’s Amaryllis” (sold). Each painting I complete is my favorite and they are all difficult to relinquish to new homes. But I also feel quite honored that other’s find beauty and enjoyment in my creations.
Composer Darius Milhaud was once asked, “If you had to go to a deserted island, which one of your compositions would you take with you?” Milhaud replied, “I’d take some blank paper. My favorite composition is always the one I will write tomorrow.”
The Pink Daisy is an original 24×36 oil painting by LMoon (me). Daisies convey cheer and exuberance. A Daisy symbolizes innocence and purity and also new beginnings (probably because they open at dawn.) I hope you enjoy this pink variety.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~ Mark Twain
This season reminds me of spiritual insights that are a truth of truth and that touch the depths of my being, my existence, more profoundly than any truth of facts. This Solstice season is poetry, and you are a part of the poem. May the poetry of life fill your hours and days. That is my wish for you. ~ William Edelen ~
“Respond to every call that excites your spirit.” ~ Rumi
12″x12″ Oil Painting by L Moon
“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety or possessions – we cannot be free.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
“The revelation of thought takes men out of servitude into freedom.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
This 36″x36″ oil painting of a red iris is the largest I have painted. I enjoyed the challenge of enlarging the size and still maintaining the correct perspective. I painted this especially for a spot in our family room, which after hanging it up it came out much better than I envisioned.
Interesting facts about Irises:
The word Iris means rainbow. It was named after the Goddess of the rainbow because Irises come in many colors.
The Iris has been the symbol of France as far back as the 6th century AD. It became known as the “flour-de-lis” or flower of Louis, in honor of the kings of France.
The Iris is the state flower of Tennessee. It’s also the national emblem of France.
Iris Flowers are associated with twenty fifth wedding anniversary.
Meaning of the Iris:
Your friendship means so much to me, faith, hope
The flower symbolism associated with the iris is faith, wisdom, cherished friendship, hope, valor, my compliments, promos in love, wisdom.
Giving someone an Iris says “Your friendship means a lot to me.”
